Most of the times people have argued that there is no need for own domain name since they can create blog or website on free hosting like blogger,wordpress etc. To some extent it is true that they can use those above mentioned free services BUT that should only be limited to test your idea or your niche .If you are really serious about your web presence and wants to convey your thoughts, expertise or anything else through it, then you should really have your own domain name. Still not convinced ? Below are the few bullet points to explain more

1) Having your own domain name shows that your are serious about your blog and it not just for fun.
2) You are free to install any other blog related addons like plugins etc. (This point got inspiration by my dear friend University Princess)
3) You can even backup your blog regularly which you can’t do in free service. This provide disaster recovery of your blog
4) Freedom to add your own custom made scripts. LEARN HTML lol
5) Freedom to create your own Brand Image.

Web Analytics Account

Today, I mean right now, at this very moment there are million of website on world wide web and may be thousands in your niche. So think about it, there is a huge competition online. You need to be very vigilant for your website.

Below is the few mentioned points that describes the need of this tool

1) You can monitor the number of page views of your blog. This provide information about popular pages in the website/blog.

2) You can monitor from which part of the world traffic is coming to your website. This provide valuable information in planing traffic management.

3) It provides valuable information about sections of the website which are popular ( getting more hits) and which needs a revamp to make it more popular.

4) Most of Analytic tools provide valuable information about the keyword for which your website/blog is being searched in search engines so that you can concentrate on those keyword and may be write some more posts containing those keywords. Nice yeah ? An SEO TIP.

5) Most of the Analytic tools provide various visual display formats like charts to monitor your goals. Goals are important for your web presence. If you don’t have a goal you cannot achieve anything. lol I know I am turning into mum. But its good to have goals. It motivate to do some efforts for it.

The topic of web analytic is so important that I am thinking to write a series of posts helping my readers to take advantage of it. What your think guys ?

Why? RSS and Email ensure continues fixed traffic to your website on every update. They provide users a way to get in touch with your latest content on the website.

HTML knowledge

Having knowledge of HTML is really helpful because you don’t want to beg or pay third party to do some minor changes on your blog/website do ya ?
If you have a website and your are serious about your online web presence then knowledge of HTML should be included into your learning curve, there should not be any excuse for that. I know I am tough BUT its good for you. If you have more traffic YOU will make more money not ME.

And to be honest with you learning HTML is not that very difficult. You can always start from this book HTML 4 For Dummies, 5th Edition

After learning HTML you will get to know so many cool things that you can do with your website/blog. And then you will thank me LOL.

Good Content

LOL you must be thinking why good content is last in my list ? Well I must admit having a good content is really important but most of the important thing is, Drum rolls please, How you make your content interesting and sellabe. Lets face it, everybody like free money, well I do, if you run your own website there must be little concern for money in your mind. Maybe you are not interested in making living out of your website but any little free money is always good isn’t it ?

You are investing you time here and Time is Money.

Yes quality content is must but if you don’t make your content sellabe and interesting enough then it is going to be worthless.
A little tips THINK BUSINESS and your NICHE while writing your content. A good amalgamation of quality content and sales pitch do wonders. Oh that tips must go in my TIP IT section.
